As if the Chevy Cruze isn’t a sweet option already, it is primed for some tasty updates in 2019. Here’s what to look out for when the 2019 Chevy Cruze debuts.
The 2018 Cruze was already stylish enough, but the 2019 model, which continues to come in sedan and hatchback body styles, ushers in an even sharper appearance with its new grille, fresh headlights, new fog lights, and updated taillights. While the changes are subtle, a close look shows off a larger grille with a chrome surround, updated insert, and a lower-mounted Chevy bowtie; the headlights boast new turn signal designs and underscoring daytime running light; and the fog lights are lower in their surrounds.
Around back, the taillights feature new graphics that place the reverse lights and turn signals in the lower part of the lens. There is also a new LED taillight option in the Premier trim.
The exterior get further enhancement from its new wheel designs, and black-painted window moldings, emblems, and wheel on the RS package.
Inside, the changes are also subtle but noticeable. They include new interior colors, like Umber, and the new Chevrolet Infotainment System 3 with a 7-inch touchscreen, and standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The 2019 Cruze comes standard with a zippy 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that injects 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. This power travels through a standard six-speed automatic transmission that delivers it to the front wheels. This powertrain combines for a 7.7-second 0-to-60 sprint time while also getting up to 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway.
Want better fuel economy? Opt for the 1.6-liter turbo-diesel engine that pumps in 137 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque through a nine-speed automatic transmission. This may sacrifice a little in acceleration, but it delivers the goods in fuel economy at up to 31 mpg city and 47 mpg highway.
Safety comes standard in the 2019 Cruze with its rearview camera, seat belt pretensioners, and traction control all included in the base Cruze. Get additional safety with the Driver Confidence Package in the LT and Premier trims. This package includes rear parking assist, blind-zone monitoring, lane-change alert, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Maximize safety with the Premier trim’s optional Driver Confidence II Package, which includes everything the first package included plus automatic high-beams, following-distance indicator, forward-collision alert, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and low-speed automatic emergency braking.
