Kick Range Anxiety to the Curb With the 2018 Chevy Volt

By Emily Eppley | June 27th, 2018

When you need a sedan with the best of both worlds, gas and electric, check out the 2018 Chevrolet Volt. This range-extended electric car will help relieve your range anxiety with up to 53 all-electric miles before switching to gas and up to 420 miles of total range with a full battery and tank of fuel. More importantly, you can cut your tether to the pump and drive more than 1,100 miles between fill-ups with regular charging.

Powertrain

All 2018 Volts feature a 101-horsepower 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine connected to an electric motor. Combined, the motor and the engine produce 149 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque. You’ll get seamless transitions with a continuously variable transmission that sends power directly to the front wheels. The tight handling and responsive powertrain make this sedan an unexpectedly dynamic drive.

Exterior

New for the 2018 Chevy Volt are three striking colors: Green Mist Metallic, Satin Steel Metallic, and Cajun Red Tintcoat. Every color looks classy on this plug-in hybrid that shows styling cues of a hatch-style trunk without giving up the sedan form. The long, sloping lines show off its aerodynamic efficiency, and the iconic Chevy fin on top adds assertive spirit from the front fascia and grille. Turn some heads next time you drive through town and generate more than just power from its regen-on-demand system.

Interior

The 2018 Chevy Volt Premier comes standard with leather-appointed seats that you can order with heating or not in the front and the rear. The seats are matched with a leather-wrapped steering wheel that’s also available with heat . For those especially warm or chilly days, the available remote starter allows you to get the vehicle to the perfect temperature before you get in.

Also available on the Premier trim are the Bose surround-sound speaker system, so you can hear your favorite driving tunes crisply.

Tech

Know what’s going on under your vehicle’s hood with the 8-inch LCD instrument panel driver’s display that shows your battery life and fuel usage. The similarly 8-inch touchscreen display with Chevrolet MyLink integrates with smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can access navigation, answer calls, and use your favorite apps.

You’ll stay connected with the available built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection that allows you to take the Internet along for the ride almost anywhere you go. Streaming can take a lot out of a phone, keep you and your passengers’ phones charged with the two available USB ports in the front.
