The EPA has certified the all-new 2017 Cruze Diesel Sedan can reach 52 miles to the gallon on the highway with a manual transmission. That’s the highest highway fuel economy of any non-hybrid/non-electric vehicle in America. When you do the math on the 13.5-gallon fuel tank, that comes out to a staggering 702 miles of highway driving on one fill-up of diesel fuel.
“Chevrolet is dedicated to offering customers a wide range of propulsion options. We know there are customers looking for the right combination of fuel efficiency, driving dynamics, fuel type and more. With the EPA-estimated 52-mpg highway Cruze Diesel Sedan, they can get it all,” said Steven Majoros, director of Chevrolet Marketing.
The Ecotec 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder, turbodiesel engine on the 2017 Cruze Diesel Sedan achieves an impressive 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. It handily passed the strict EPA environmental standards that have been giving other diesel vehicles such trouble, including the Tier 3 Bin 125 emissions standards. The Cruze Diesel is breaking records and looking good while doing it.
Is driving a stick not your style? That’s okay, even if you opt for the nine-speed automatic transmission of the Cruze Diesel, you can still expect an extraordinary EPA-estimated highway economy of 47 mpg and 31 mpg in the city. In either option, Chevy Cruze Sedan drivers will enjoy OnStar with 4G LTE connectivity with a built-in WI-FI hotspot, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility through Chevrolet MyLink.
