The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is all-new with tough looks, a carbon-fiber bed option, an available diesel engine, and loads more tech. While those were all great additions, the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 continues the innovation with a series of updates.
On the outside, the 2020 GMC Sierra’s AT4 CarbonPro Edition gets a few updates, including a black-chrome grille surround, black exhaust tips, and updated emblems. The other key updates to the outside of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 include a new set of trailer tow mirrors as a free-flow option and a Crew Cab configuration for the Elevation trim.
Under its hood, the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 will have its first full year with the new 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine, which boasts 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, making it easier to find. GMC will also expand the 10-speed automatic transmission to the 5.3-liter V-8 engine with Dynamic Fuel Management. This will make it standard on the Denali and AT4 models and optional on the four-wheel-drive SLE and higher trims.
Safety will also get a few upgrades starting with a new transparent-trailer technology included with the Enhance ProGrade Trailering that uses a camera on the rear bumper and on the rear of the trailer to deliver a see-through view that gives you a look at what’s behind the trailer. Also new is optional adaptive cruise control on the SLT, AT4, and Denali models.
Hauling a trailer with the iN∙Command® Control System from ASA Electronics? You can now control select features of your trailer, including its water heater and checking water levels right from the myGMC mobile app. Speaking of new tech, the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500’s 8-inch infotainment system will feature the new SiriusXM 360L function that suggests other stations based on listening habits and offers on-demand content from the infotainment system.
