50th Anniversary Challenger Debuts in Los Angeles

By Justin Cupler | November 27th, 2019

Five decades ago, the Dodge Challenger came rumbling onto the scene with a range of six- and eight-cylinder engines that rocked the muscle-car world. Today, the Challenger continues its ways in what most consider the second coming of the muscle-car era. In celebration of 50 years of striking fear at stoplights and drag strips, Dodge will release a limited number of 50th Anniversary Edition Challengers.

The 2020 Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition will be available in four variants: GT, R/T Shaker, R/T Scat Pack Shaker, and R/T Scat Back Shaker Widebody. The latter model marks the first time the shaker hood, which gets its name because the functional cold-air intake poking through the hood shakes with the engine, will be available with the Widebody package.

The 50th Anniversary models will be available in seven high-impact color options, one of which is brand-new for this limited-run anniversary model. The existing HIP color options will include FrostBite, Hellraisin, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, F8 Green, and Go Mango. The new HIP color will be a striking goldish hue dubbed Gold Rush.

Other visual updates to set these special models apart will be Gold School-painted 50th Anniversary badges, a satin-black hood, a black-wrapped roof and deck lid, “FUEL” lettering on the fuel cap, 20-inch Gold School wheels, LED “50” logos in the Illuminated Air Catcher headlamps, and optional gunmetal-painted Brembo calipers.

The Challenger’s cabin will get loads of updates for its anniversary edition too. These will include heated and ventilated Nappa leather and Alcantara seats, Sepia accent stitching, “50” logos on the seatbacks, a carbon-fiber instrument panel and bezels with copper weave, Alcantara door bolsters, Berber floor mats with “50” logos, and a passenger-side 50th Anniversary Badge with an “X of 70” number.

That badge brings us to the limited nature of this 50th Anniversary Challenger. Dodge will offer only 1,960 of them, which is 70 of each trim and color combination.

Adding this special package to the Challenger is affordable too, as the GT model will require an additional $4,995, the R/T Shaker model will require an extra $5,495, and the R/T Scat Pack Shaker and Widebody models will ask for an extra $5,995.
