The Subaru Outback went through its last redesign back in 2015, but this was more of an evolutionary rework than a complete redo. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee is refreshed, bringing in a new, more traditional front end looks and a new rear end. Interior

Inside, the 2019 Subaru Outback is quite the looker with its clean dash, wood trimming, three-post steering wheel, and standard 6.5-inch infotainment system with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2019 Subaru Outback has two engine options. The base powerplant is a 2.5-liter boxer-four engine that pumps 175 horsepower through a continuously variable transmission and out to all four wheels. This adds up to a pedestrian 9.4-second 0-to-60 time. Optionally, buyers can add a 3.6-liter boxer-six engine that bumps the power to 256 horses and drops the 0-to-60 time to 6.9 seconds. This powertrain also comes standard with all-wheel drive. 

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee comes standard with a 180-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that mates to a nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine comes standard with front-wheel drive and delivers a 10.5-second 0-to-60 time. With its optional 3.2-liter V-6 engine, the 2019 Cherokee’s power jumps to 271 horsepower, and its 0-to-60 time falls to 7.5 seconds. Topping the 2019 Cherokee range is a turbocharged 2.0-liter with 270 horses and 295 pound-feet of torque that sprints this small crossover to 60 mph in just seven seconds. 

While the 2019 Outback is plenty capable off the beaten path, the 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk is superior with its off-road suspension and advanced four-wheel-drive system.
