Chrysler Voyager Vs. Dodge Grand Caravan

The 2020 model year will bring in another Chrysler minivan, the Voyager. While the 2020 Voyager will be a new model, Chrysler will base it on the current Pacifica L and LX trims, giving buyers a budget-oriented van. But we already sell a budget van in the 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan here at Garber Automall. Which is better for our Green Cove Springs shoppers? Find out here.

A redesigned Dodge Grand Caravan seems like a lifetime away, as it last arrived in 2008. Now, in 2019, the Grand Caravan remains the longest-running production cycle in the minivan segment. This gives it a dated appearance, but it also means you’re basically paying 2008 prices for a three-row, eight-passenger minivan.

The 2020 Chrysler Voyager is based on the Pacifica, so it carries the critically acclaimed design that debuted in 2017. This includes a semi-rounded rear liftgate, swoopy headlights, thin grille, sleek windshield, and sharp creases down the sides.

The 2020 Voyager is available in only a pair of trims inherited from the lower end of the Pacifica lineup: L and LX. Its standard exterior features are simple and include 17-inch steel wheels with hubcaps and black grilles. Moving up to the LX trim will add more stylish features like standard 17-inch alloy wheels and body-color door handles. Despite its simplicity, the Voyager, like its Pacifica sibling, will still be one of the best-looking minivans on the market.

The 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan’s base trim is also very simple with 17-inch steel wheels and hubcaps, a black and chrome grille, and other basics. Moving into its SE Plus trim adds some darkening features, black alloy wheels, and other sleek look-good bits. The range-topping SXT has standard 17-inch wheels, fog lights, bright moldings, and a power liftgate, which gives this aging minivan more range-topping exterior amenities than the new Voyager.

  • Smaller and nimbler

Inside, the 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan is just as dated as its exterior. While shoppers looking for the latest in style and tech may turn their noses up at this, those looking for a simpler cabin on a budget will find everything they need in the 2019 Grand Caravan. Its standard features are simple but useful and include a six-speaker audio system, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Stow ‘n Go third-row seats, manual three-zone climate control, and more. Sure, it lacks advanced smartphone connectivity, but that is not a concern when you’re looking for value first.

Like its exterior, the 2020 Chrysler Voyager’s interior is identical to today’s Pacifica L and LX. This gives it a sharp design with lots of swoops and curves to catch the eye and a rotary shifter to keep things clean. The Voyager gets a leg up on the Odyssey in standard features with its 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Stow ‘n Go third-row bench, and more.
